Is a WhatsApp will legally valid in South Africa?
The will document 4Will generates is a standard written will compliant with the Wills Act 7 of 1953. It is not legally valid until you print it and sign it in the presence of two adult witnesses, who must also sign. 4Will produces the document. The physical signing makes it legally binding.
How is my information protected?
Your personal information is encrypted at rest and in transit. We comply with POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act) and will never sell your data to third parties. You can request deletion of your information at any time.
Who reviews the will I create?
4Will's template and process have been developed with input from South African-qualified attorneys. We are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice. If your situation is complex, we will tell you and recommend you see an attorney directly.
What happens if I make a mistake?
You can go back and correct your answers at any time before your will is finalised. After generation, you can start a new session to create an updated will. Simply ensure only the latest signed version is treated as your current will.
Can I update my will later?
Yes. Life changes: marriages, divorces, children, assets. You can return to 4Will at any time to create an updated will. When you sign your new will, it automatically revokes your previous one (a revocation clause is included in every 4Will document).

Do I need witnesses to sign?
Yes. Under the Wills Act, your will must be signed by you and two competent adult witnesses, all present at the same time. Witnesses should not be beneficiaries in the will. 4Will's signing block guides you through this clearly.
What if my situation is complicated?
4Will is designed for straightforward estates. If you have multiple businesses, offshore assets, trusts, or a complex family situation, we will let you know and recommend you see a qualified estate planning attorney. We would rather be honest than give you a will that doesn't serve you.
